Pre-mixed Skim Coat (SC-334)

Description
SC-334 is pre-mixed cementitious skim coat product consisting of Portland cement , uniformly fine binder and high quality additives.  SC-334 is high grade product for skim coat with fine particle size 200 mesh, suitable for interior and exterior use. SC-334 has no sand particles in the mixture.

Features and Benefits
•  High Water Retention promoting complete hydration of cement, thus eliminating crack
•  High  bonding strength to the coated surface
•  Improve workability
•  Non-sagging
•  Uniformly graded binder
•  Suitable for interior and exterior use

Superior properties enabling applicator to easily render surface finishing for smooth texture/appearance and cost effectiveness.

Uses
1. Base coat prior to applying  top coat by SC-333/SC-335 on concrete/plastering wall
2. Skim coat on concrete surface
3. Skim coat on uneven/rough surface of plastering wall smooth finish
4. Repair of hair crack on plastering wall
5. Thin coat on light weight block (AAC & CLC) and concrete block.

Application Instruction

    1. Base Coat by using SC-334 prior to finishing of top coat by SC-333 or SC-335
  • Add approx. 6 liters of water into plastic bucket/container and follow with one bag of SC-334. Mixing by drilled mixer for consistency of mixtures about 5 minutes
  • Using steel trowel to apply  base coat  covering pin hole on concrete surface/wall
  • Wait till base coat is dry , following with top coat by finishing with DURAMIX-SC 333 or DURAMIX-SC 335
     2. Skim Coat on concrete surface
  • Mixing  as per above instructions (1)
  • Using steel trowel to apply skim coat on the concrete surface. Apply first coat and wait till it is dry or slightly wet and repeat for the next coat(s) so that the surface is smooth finish and no visible mark of uneven surface. No sanding is required after the skim coat is dry
     3. Skim Coat/Smooth finishing on uneven/rough surface of plastering wall

        3.1 Wall Plastering

  • Mixing of plastering mortar as per instructions
  • Using plastic or wood float to trowel pre-mixed mortar on clay brick/block/light weight block wall for required thickness.
  • Use straight edge to scrape the excess of mortar on plastering wall so that the wall is plumb. Fill any low spots with mortar and repeat the same process until the wall is level/flat.
  • Final step of plastering, using wood float and following with sponge float. Remove loose sand on wall surface by broom. After plastering is dry, the wall surface will be rough texture
3.2 Apply skim coat for smooth finish on plaster wall

  • Skip the final step of wall plastering and wait till the damp mortar is initially set (tested by pressing the surface with thumb finger, if the surface is no mark of dent on the surface of mortar),then the surface is ready to apply skim coat
  • Apply skim coat by SC-334 using steel trowel for smooth finish.

Generally, two coats of skim coat is essential for smooth finish on plastering wall. Apply first skim coat to cover the rough texture of sand. Wait till the first coat is start to set (press by finger and no mark/sign of finger), then apply final coat for smooth finishing.

      4. Repair of crack on plastering wall
  • Follow above instructions (1) for mixing.
  • Patch the void of hair crack area. After it is dry, sub-sequently apply skim coats till no visible mark of hair crack. Each layer of skim coat shall be dry prior to apply next coat.
  • Larger crack shall be repaired by cutting crack area for V-shape before patching, mixing C-BONDING or DURABONDER (increase bonding & elasticity): SC-334 : water approximate ratio by weight 1:1: 0.25: and blending by drilled mixer for patching crack. PU sealant can also be used for crack patching Wait till patching area is completely dry prior to subsequent skim coats for 2-3 coats as per afore-mentioned instructions.
      5. Thin Coat on Light Weight Block Wall
  • Follow above instructions (1) for mixing .Patching between laying blocks to cover up the joints so that thin coat can be applied by steel/plastic trowel.
  • Using plastic trowel to apply first coat on the light weight block wall
  • Wait till first coat is dry and repeat for next coat(s).   Final coat shall be applied by steel trowel till the surface is smooth finish. and no visible mark/trace of uneven surface
